Key Stage 5

Key Stage 5

KS5 comprises years 12 and 13, students will either be working towards A level (Traditional
British route (3-4 subjects), IB less traditional but transferable internationally (8- subjects), BTEC
more vocational traditionally 2-3 subjects. Often students will opt to change schools for better
opportunities at their chosen university, change in friendship groups etc. During these years they
will have to complete their university entry to take them to the next educational stage in their
lives, should they opt to do so.

The Important Decision

They should have chosen subjects they enjoyed
and did well in at GCSE. The jump is quite big so
they will need to get a minimum grade of 6/7 to
continue with their GCSE subjects at A Level.

They should research their chosen university course so they know the best A-level options to get them into the career they wish to pursue. It is likely by now they will already be showing a tendency towards arts or sciences.
They are likely to study between 8 -10 of the following options for GCSE
  • English
  • Maths
  • Science
  • History
  • Geography
  • Modern foreign languages
  • DT / Art / Nutrition
  • PE / Drama / Music
  • Business / Economics
  • Computing

Let’s build something great together.
