Key Stage 2

What to expect in Year 2 - 6

Key Stage 2 covers Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 ending with Key Stage 2 SATs.

Throughout key Stage 2, your child will be expected to study English which will include
comprehension, grammar and spelling. They will also cover math’s including multiplying, dividing,
mental math’s and solving problems using time, measure or money, as well as science.

SATs past papers and practice papers for the year 6 Grammar, Punctuation and Spelling test are
available below and it is important that students really grasp these basic skills so that they can
continue to master work once they transition into year 7.

What will my child do in Years 3- 6?

Your child will begin to transition away from visual learning and will be required to be disciplined in their approach to learning.
Good reading, listening and speaking skills will be expected along with the ability to follow multi-step instructions independently.

They will sit standardised testing with CAT4 in
year 5 and some schools still do CATS and
SATS in year 6.

They may also be working towards entrance exams to get into excluding schools.
